10 major mid-June commitments to LSU, Tulane, UL - Prep Redzone (2024)

Louisiana Tech was among the programs featured heavily in Prep Redzone Louisiana’s early-June recruiting roundup.

LSU, Louisiana (Lafayette) and Tulane have all followed with impressive runs through the middle of the month.

Here’s a look at those updates, as well as a couple other notable in-state recruiting updates.

The Tigers secured their first two commitments of the 2026 class over the weekend, a pair of New Orleans prospects among Louisiana’s top 10 rising juniors. Defensive tackle may be the program’s biggest position of need in the immediate future, and Richard Anderson Richard Anderson 6'4" | 280 lbs | DL Edna Karr | 2026 State LA provides a big, quick athlete at the position who should have an opportunity to push for early playing time when he arrives to campus. The electric Jakai Anderson Jakai Anderson 6'0" | 160 lbs | WR McDonogh 35 | 2026 State LA meanwhile continues what has been a great pipeline of in-state prospects — whether from the high school ranks or returning home via the transfer portal — for a consistently well-stocked receiver room.

Despite a great week in-state and out for the Tigers, not all the news was positive. Antoine, one of Louisiana’s top-ranked rising seniors, backed off his January pledge late Sunday after recent visits to Miami and Florida State. Antoine was in Baton Rouge in late May, but has made multiple trips to Miami throughout the offseason, including playing 7-on-7 with South Florida Express, and was a notable absence from LSU’s recent camps.

The Ragin’ Cajuns landed a major commitment from not only in-state, but in-town late Saturday with the decision by the quick-footed Acadiana standout. Babineaux has been a leader and a versatile playmaker throughout his high school career, taking on roles at defensive back or quarterback, and, though the Wreckin’ Rams are a typically run-heavy offense, has torn up every camp he’s attended with his ability to consistently create space. Babineaux will be in the mix as potentially the Cajuns’ highest-ranked signee in the first five years of Prep Redzone Louisiana.

The Bulldogs’ star has gained some well-deserved recruiting traction this offseason and is a potential steal for the hometown Ragin’ Cajuns during a big weekend on campus that included his commitment late Friday, a standout performance on both sides of the ball for Cecilia in the program’s annual 7-on-7 tournament Saturday and his announcement of the news Sunday.

The Ragin’ Cajuns landed multisport standout from north Louisiana on Friday with the announcement of the long, speedy cornerback and outfielder. Riley chose Louisiana (Lafayette) over other notable offers in-state and out-of-state and has quickly become the most vocal member of the recruiting class early on.

The Bearcats’ standout helped lead the proud program to its first state championship since 1990 with a junior season in which he showed his potential as a quarterback as well as his versatile athleticism as a potential defensive back or wide receiver. Brantley earned his Tulane offer June 12 and needed just 10 days to announce his decision Saturday during a visit.

The Purple Knights’ teammates announced their commitments Friday to the hometown Green Wave, adding a talented and ascending prospect to each side of the ball. The big tackle picked up multiple major-conference offers during the spring, and the speedy edge rusher has been among Louisiana’s hottest names in June with strong camp showings and subsequent offers.

Mitchell, another hometown prospect from just across the Mississippi River, announced his commitment June 15 to help spark the Green Wave’s strong in-state run. The tall, athletic target with good speed is among the leaders this year of an always-loaded Cougars receiving corps.

The Panthers’ multisport standout, an athletic quarterback with a big arm, announced his commitment this weekend to the ULM baseball program on the heels of a junior season in which he earned district MVP and all-state honorable mention with a 0.40 ERA on the mound and .274 batting average at the plate.
