    Ollie Watkins transfer advice

Arsenal hero William Gallas insists his former club should sign Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins.

    Gallas told Lord Ping:

For Arsenal, I like Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.

He has the pace you need to have as a striker and with a player like Martin Odegaard in behind him it would just be magnificent, think of all the assists.

It’s so difficult to defend against players like Ollie Watkins because he’s so clever with his runs, with Odegaard they would do so much damage. If I was at Arsenal I’d choose him.

    Arsenal target saves Spain

Real Sociedad star Mikel Merino sent Spain to the semi-finals of Euro 2024 after a 2-1 win.

Merino has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

Spain drew 1-1 with Germany in the quarter-finals after Florian Wirtz’s late equaliser cancelled out Dani Olmo’s opener at normal time.

That led to a sensational extra-time between the two tournament favourites.

But then Merino picked up a header from Olmo’s pinpoint cross to beat Manuel Neuer and eliminate the hosts in the 119th minute.

    Raring to go

Arsenal academy graduate Jeff Reine-Adelaide has a "taste for revenge" after suffering a horror injury a few weeks ago.

Reine-Adelaide was released at the end of the season after making 27 appearances last term.

The playmaker is now searching for the seventh club of his career after leaving Molenbeek.

The 26-year-old suffered a shock injury in May and was hospitalised after losing consciousness for 10 minutes when a ball struck him in the head.

But the Frenchman believes he has overcome the health scare and assured clubs he is fit and raring to go.

Last season, clubs were interested in my situation but needed to be reassured on a physical level.

I needed a club that would allow me to find rhythm and fitness again. It's obviously scary from the outside, but the injury had no after-effects or seriousness.

I stayed under observation that same evening at the hospital and I left the next day. I didn't really understand what happened… it was weird because I didn't feel it was serious.

I need to find a club whose sporting project speaks to me, that fits the football I love.

But the human aspect will be essential… My priority is to have fun and be part of a good group. I also have a taste for revenge.

"Some have written me off, but apart from the ACLs, I have never been a very injured player. I have been labelled as a fragile player, even though it's not true.

    Gallas expects challenge from rivals

William Gallas thinks Tottenham could push Arsenal “close” for the Premier League title next season as he made an early prediction.

Gallas told GiveMeSport: “I think Arsenal are going to win the Premier League next season.

“They have all the ingredients to be the champions after coming so close in the last two years. They made some mistakes, but they now know exactly how good they need to be to lift the trophy. They have great players, and they might need one or two more, but they will be champions next season.

“I also expect Tottenham will improve and do better than last season. They need a good start to the season.

“Unfortunately, they dropped points at the end of last season, which is why they finished where they did, but the manager will know what he has to change about his philosophy in order to take Tottenham to the next level. I expect Tottenham to be very competitive in the Premier League next season. They might not win it, but they will be close.”

    England warned over Arsenal star

Teddy Sheringham has told Gareth Southgate not to play Bukayo Saka at wing-back against Switzerland.

He said: “I don’t think Bukayo Saka looked comfortable at left-back against Slovakia compared to how he was faring on the wing,” Sheringham said.

“He’s not exactly going to say to Gareth Southgate that he doesn’t want to play there or left wing-back if he gets asked to, but it’s not his ideal position.

“This England team have been guilty of putting square pegs in round holes this tournament, like what they did with Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield. You can’t keep trying these things and expect to get away with it against the top teams.

“Saka has not been firing on all cylinders yet throughout the tournament, but he’s still a very good player and it’s close between him and Cole Palmer over who should play on the right-hand side of the attack.”

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta revealed there has been no update regarding his contract but has played down fears he'll leave next year when his deal expires.

No, there is no update at the moment. The thing that hasn't changed is how happy I am and how valued I feel here and how much I love representing this club.

Things happen in a natural way and our relationship is that good that I don't predict any issues happening.

But things have to develop in the right way and it will happen.
