How do I turn the default weapon into that confusing maxed one?
Enchant it. Most enchantments can be found in a max enchanting table, higher level ones, some specific enchantments, and ultimate enchantments need to be bought from the bazaar.
Reforge it. You can reforge it at the blacksmith or buy a reforge stone from the bazaar to apply using the reforge anvil.
Potato book it. You can buy 10 hot potato books from the bazaar, as well as 5 fuming potato books which will give it +30 damage and strength....
Star it. Using essence at Malik (I believe death bow uses undead or wither essence) you can add stars to the bow, which give 2% stat boost outside of dungeons, and 10% stat boost inside, each. You can also apply 5 master stars (this bow has 1 master star) for an an additional 5% stat boost per master star inside master mode dungeons. Essence and master stats can be bought from the bazaar.
Recombobulate it. A recombobulator increases its rarity and thus increases the power of reforges on it.
Do nothing to it. It's a death bow, it's weak, upgrading it to this extent is a waste of money. Just put enchantments from your enchanting table on it, and reforge it. Maybe add stars (not master stars), and hot potato books too, if you want to spend that money.

There are 5 types of upgrades on that “maxed” bow:
- Reforge (spiritual)
- Reforges can be applied either by using the Blacksmith to apply a basic reforge or by applying a reforge stone in a reforge anvil. The three most common bow reforges (for non-terminator bows) are Rapid, Precise, and Spiritual.
- Spiritual, which is the reforge on the “maxed” bow, is obtained by applying a Spirit Stone to the bow in a Reforge Anvil. You can find a reforge anvil in the Hub next to the Smithmonger, or access one by talking to Malik in the Dungeon Hub. Spiritual requires Mining skill 24 to apply, but has no requirement to use once it is applied. The Spirit Stone can be obtained from floor 4 reward chests or purchased from the Bazaar.
- Stars (the 5 stars and the ❶ next to the name)
- Stars are upgrades purchased with Essence that increase all of an item’s stats by 2% per star. If the item is a dungeon item, as the Death Bow is, they grant +10% per star instead while you are in dungeons. Stars can be applied by talking to Malik in the Dungeon Hub.
- The Death Bow is upgraded with Undead Essence. It costs 1,170 Undead Essence to upgrade the bow to 5 stars. Undead Essence can be obtained by salvaging items, including most dungeon mob drops, and can also be purchased from the Bazaar if you are at least Catacombs 20.
- The ❶ next to the name is a Master Star. It grants +5% stats while in Master Mode dungeons, and no extra stats otherwise. Master Stars can be applied by combining them with the bow in an Anvil. The First Master Star can be obtained from Master Mode Floor 3 reward chests or purchased from the Bazaar.
- Potato books (the +30’s on the stats)
- Hot and Fuming Potato Books grant +2 Damage and +2 Strength when applied to a weapon in an anvil. A maximum of 10 hot and 5 fuming potato books can be applied to an item. Hot potato books can be crafted (recipe unlocked at potato VIII) with 1 enchanted baked potato and 3 enchanted paper, can be obtained from dungeon reward chests, and can be purchased from the Bazaar.
- Gaining the +30 stats on the “maxed” bow you showed simply requires applying 10 Hot and 5 Fuming Potato Books to the bow in an anvil.
- Enchantments
- Enchantments are obtained from the enchantment table or applied as books via an anvil. Here is the specific information on each enchantment on the bow you showed:
- Swarm V: This is an Ultimate Enchantment. An item can only have one Ultimate Enchantment. Swarm V grants +10% damage for each enemy within 10 blocks, capped at 10 enemies (or +100% damage). Swarm I enchanted books can be obtained from floor 6 reward chests or purchased from the Bazaar.
- Cubism V: Grants +60% damage to Creepers, Slimes, and Magma Cubes. This is primarily obtained from the Enchantment Table.
- Infinite Quiver X: Grants a 30% chance to not consume an arrow when you shoot. Infinite Quiver VI books are obtained from dungeon reward chests and can be combined until level X, or you can buy the book directly from the Bazaar.
- Overload V: Grants +5 crit chance, +5 crit damage, and a chance to deal Mega Critical Hits for 1.5x damage if your crit chance is over 100. This is one of the most powerful bow enchantments. Overload I books can be obtained from floor 5 reward chest and combined to tier V, or you can purchase the book directly from Bazaar.
- Power VI: Grants +50% damage. Can be found in Experiments, won in the Dark Auction, or purchased from the Bazaar.
- Snipe III: Grants +3% damage per 10 blocks the arrow travels. Obtained from the enchantment table.
- Enchantments are obtained from the enchantment table or applied as books via an anvil. Here is the specific information on each enchantment on the bow you showed:
- Recombobulator 3000 (this is why it’s legendary instead of epic)
- A single Recombobulator 3000 can be applied to an item in a Reforge Anvil. Increasing the rarity of the item boosts the stats granted by the reforge and any gemstones (there are none on the bow you showed). Recombobulator 3000 can be obtained from Obsidian and Bedrock Chests in dungeons, or purchased from Bazaar.
As for what upgrades you should get on a death bow, it’s much more limited. The death bow is not very strong, so it’s not worth spending tens of millions of coins on upgrades when you could just spend that on a better bow or other improvements. I would recommend only getting enchantment table enchants, hot potato books, rapid/precise/spiritual reforge, and 5 stars. Do not get fuming potato books, an ultimate enchantment, overload, a recombobulator, or a master star, as those upgrades are not worth it.
