Thank you St. Anna Children's Cancer Research Institute (CCRI) for the support and for welcoming me to start my group at the first in Europe dedicated cancer research institute. I am happy to contribute to world-class research and to put efforts together to solve the challenges of pediatric cancer initiation!

I am in a very active phase of setting up the lab to soon carry out research on #pediatric_cancer #initiation using #iPSC models. I am looking for the first team member, who will carry out the #lab_manager tasks and help me with setting up the lab and take care of the general organisation in the team with the possibility to run exciting scientific projects. Please apply and help to spread the word. https://lnkd.in/d9aqY8pn

I am immensely grateful to Austrian Science Fund FWF for trust and support. START grant provides the unique opportunity to perform transformative research. I am happy to secure this opportunity for a project devoted to pediatric cancer. This area needs a lot of effort to uncover the principles that make pediatric cancer different from cancers occurring in later stages of life. We are going to use #organoid_models of #human_development and #molecular_engineering couples to #single_cell_omics to uncover the principles behind cell fate decisions following mutation events and how the first cancer cell appears and gets an advantage over the other cells.

I am extremely proud and honored to receive the Johann Wilhelm Ritter von Mannagetta price for our work on #neuroblastoma. We found a special population of #sympathoblasts within developing #human adrenal glands, which take origin fromnerve-associated Schwann cell precursors and can be involved in the initiation of neuroblastoma. This finding opens a new vision ofthe #tumor_initiation during development. To read the article pleasefollow https://lnkd.in/eYk7WvEQ
