Happy Farm'n Friday! Last weekend, I handled the big planting chore, putting out the coleus and nasturtiums into their outdoor places, doing some weeding, and burying more of the backyard potato sprouts. I also pulled out the little rototiller and tilled up a portion of the yard by the driveway to make a wildflower patch. Since Mr.Fogu keeps mowing the backyard lawn, over my objections, I've claimed an unused spot by the daffodil, tulip, and allium bed as my new mini meadow. Fluffed up the soil, added a few metal stepping stones, and sowed the whole bag of bug and butterfly-friendly seeds received from the mother-in-law. Much of it was calendula, zinnia, and lupine, from what I could tell, but there were a few other varieties, such as cornflower, poppy, and foxglove. I even took some of my own marigold seeds and tossed them in the space. Some of the seeds have already sprouted! Surprisingly, the tree rats have not dug into the seeded soil.
As the coleus are living outside, the seedling trays under the grow light now contain sunflower seeds. Those will go into the flower bed in front of the porch. I've direct seeded them in years past, but the tree rats treat sunflower seedlings the worst out of them all. Little buggers even chomped off the tops of several purple pea sprouts. It's safer to grow sunflowers indoors and then transplant them when they're large.Â
Indie Farm'n Updates
Roka Play is working on completing the components added via stretch goals to their farming and store management game, Sugardew Island. The new character customization screen allows players to choose from predefined options such as face style, skin tone, hair/eye color, hairstyle, outfit, hat, and voice. Because of the additional work needed to implement the new features, Roka estimates that the Quarter 2 (Apr/May/Jun) 2024 launch window may have been too ambitious. They've adjusted the launch window to Quarter 3 (Jul/Aug/Sept) 2024.
Freedom Games revealed the 2024 development roadmap for the space colonization farming game One Lonely Outpost. This early-access game is still moving towards a 1.0 release next year. Quarter 3 will add new festivals, a wedding ceremony, changing seasons, map locations, tool upgrades, and new minigames. Quarter 4 (Oct/Nov/Dec) is when Freedom Games expects to finalize the 1.0 launch, start on language localizations, and start the porting process to home console; PlayStation 5 and XBox were planned back in 2000 when the crowdfunding campaign launched. Currently, the early-access release of OLO is discounted 50% until June 5:
Patha placed the release date for the free 1.3 patch for My Time at Sandrock as May 28, with aÂpaid DLC releasing that same day. Both free and paid will be available on PC and home console platforms.
The free addition reworks the pet system, bringing more interactions and allowing them to tag along on adventures as battle party members. The new animal friends can then join in battle, whether going through the story or exploring the ruins. Pets can become stronger by leveling upÂvia battle experience or food and can be decorated with accessories like sunglasses and wigs.
The paid Monster Whisperer DLC essentially turns the protagonist into a Pokemon Master, allowing the throwing of magic meatballs to tame wild creatures and make them pets to battle or dress up.

Sakuna Anime Reveal?
Studio P.A. Works recently posted a vague tweet on their official Twitter account for the upcoming Sakuna: of Rice and Ruin anime containing a gif of "Rice is Power" and the date of May 25. Hmm, maybe we'll get the date when the anime will air? Guess we'll find out tomorrow!
One of these days I need to open my copy of the game, but there are so many cool farming games to play...
